Living Portraits

“The house of rural life and forgotten trades.” This is how the museum of Han-sur-Lesse defines itself. A large museum in a small village.

This house fully participates in the universal peasant civilization, based on the land and the forest. As soon as you enter, all rural life unfolds before you; the country people come forward as rough but benevolent witnesses; the artisans appear, passionate, inventing the works, rituals, and liturgy of a job well done. Characters more lifelike than nature, motionless indeed but who seem to live as the reconstruction is faithful down to the smallest details.
